The boys had the opportunity to be in a production of The Nutcracker. They loved it, and so did I! That is, once Lucas got over the trauma of having to purchase ballet shoes (I swear, he was going to have a heart attack in the store. He was so nervous, like one of his friends was going to walk in at any moment. Josh, on the other hand, was prancing around the store to try out his shoes. “Let me just run down this aisle one more time”!).
I told Lucas that lots of professional football players take ballet, and that made him feel a little better. And Josh (who is a bit of a ladies man), discovered that ballet dancers get lots of time with the “lades”. He recognized the ratio was in his favor to be around the girls. They all thought he was so cute! I don’t think they’ll be taking ballet up anytime soon, but it was so fun to see them on stage in front of 1,600 people and to see the comraderie they found in the other cast members. It was a fabulous experience for them and I’m so grateful they got to do it!
