Yosemite – Quite Possibly the Most Beautiful Place on Earth
We spent last week at Yosemite, which I still think is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I’ve been to a lot of National Parks in my life, but there’s something about the sheer granite faces that enclose the valley which make you constantly look up in wonder and awe.
We usually tent camp, but this time we stayed in Housekeeping. It was so much nicer than I expected. It was easier to pack for and we had beds and electricity, showers and a laundromat – such luxury! We rode bikes and hiked to the footbridge of Vernal falls. We were right on the river which was amazing, and so much fun for the kids to be able to swim and paddle our little inflatable boats around.
We ate simply but well (I’ll share our menu with you later), because I didn’t want to spend a lot of time cooking. It took a lot of prep time before we left, but made it so much easier for us.
We saw tons of wildlife: four bears, all of them in nature which was a cool change (usually we just see them attacking peoples’ food that is stored improperly). We also saw lots of deer and two fawns (one of them wasn’t walking very well and was the tiniest thing I’ve ever seen, so I think it may have been a few days old, if even that).
What an amazing experience! If you’re considering a trip to Yosemite, you should do it! You won’t be the same when you come home. If you want to see more of Yosemite in its splendor, check out this video from Project Yosemite.
