Messing About in Boats

November 29, 2011

“There is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

-Wind in the Willows

I love this quote.  My family takes it very seriously, and it pretty much sums up our Thanksgiving – which was practically perfect in every way.  We visited my uncle who has a house right on the water in Ventura.  Most of my siblings and their families were there, as well as my dad’s siblings and their families.

Boats were sailed, kayaked, and paddled.  Potatoes were peeled, s’mores were toasted, turkey was gobbled.  Bikes were ridden (15 miles from Ojai to Ventura – our kids did awesome!), vistas were viewed.  Sharks were caught, waves were chased, clams were found (and eaten), kites were flown on the beach.  Our days were packed and we still didn’t get to do everything we wanted to.  But it was positively blissful!  I hope your Thanksgiving was equally wonderful!

I LOVE that quote. One of the best and most true and least cliche quotes ever.
