The Perfect Pet
Is a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit. This is Thumper, the new addition to our family (he also goes by Wilbur or Jerry, although I don’t think he actually knows his name, so he’ll answer to pretty much anything.) We got him a few weeks ago from a friend at our church. He is the sweetest little guy. He is quite small, so the kids can easily hold him (and shockingly, he lets them!) He has a hutch that he lives in outside in our backyard, a smaller cage so that he can come inside when it’s too hot outside, and a playpen so he can hop around the yard and eat grass without us having to worry about him getting lost in the bushes. Plus, he loves apples, which is great for us because we have an apple tree that produces copious amounts of apples. He’s cuddly and loves to be held (one time he sat and watched a whole movie with Josh holding him), and he’s potty trained to go in his little box- supposedly – so he could theoretically be an indoor pet, although I think his potty training skills may need a little brushing up.
Our kids have been begging us for a pet for a long time, but I’ve been reluctant. I just didn’t feel like I had time to tend to one more living thing. However, he’s very low maintenance and the kids love him. So, if you’re looking for an easy-to-care-for pet for your kids, the Netherland Dwarf Rabbit is your answer!
