Week in the Life
I read about this project that Ali Edwards does where she captures all the little things that make up every day life over the course of a week. She keeps the camera nearby and jots down little things that happen or things that people say – finding the beauty in everyday life.
I’m so excited about this project, I can’t even tell you! I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I saw it yesterday on Design Editor, and I found myself perusing the aisles of the craft store this morning looking for cool things to do this with. I think it would be fun to do it a few times a year – maybe even once a season. I’m going to pick a week this summer to do it – just capture all the little things that happen, jot down all the little things people say, and put them together in a book.
A few years ago I resolved to keep my camera close at all times to capture those little moments in life. The photos that resulted from it are some of my most cherished. They show my children in their element, doing what they love to do. They’re happy and relaxed. No cheesy smiles, no clothes that make them itch, no crying and profuse begging with promises of treats and ice cream. Just my kids. Being them.
Just eating toys.
Getting a drink from the hose.
And showing off their beautiful eyelashes.
