How to Tell Your Kids You’re Having a Baby

I wanted our news to be a super positive memory for the kids, so we decided to do something they love to announce it to them.  We went on a bicycle scavenger hunt around town.  I drove around ahead of time and hid the clues.  Then we took off on our bikes and followed the clues.

The last one was a balloon for each of them with a card attached that either said, “You’re going to be a big brother again” or “You’re going to be a big sister”.  The reactions were varied (as we expected).  Lucas was silent, Kate was super excited, and Josh said, “No.  I don’t want a baby.  No.”  He has since come around to the idea, but only if it’s a boy.

Even with severe helmet hair she was excited!
